Public Preferences for Street Trees
Perth has some of the lowest levels of tree canopy cover in Australia. We sought to better understand public preferences for street trees, with the aim of attracting greater public acceptance of tree planting programs.
In a survey of 500+ residents from the Perth region, we found the public most prefer:
Trees that support birds, insects, and reptiles
Trees that required little water to survive
Work on a second piece of research examining the impact of environmental information provision on street tree species selection is currently underway.
